New reality TV show thrusts Chinese models into Italian fashion
How long will it take for a fledgling Chinese model to walk on an international stage? Loren Models tells you 30 days.
The Beijing modeling agency is working with Guangxi Satellite Television on a new reality TV competition called 2013 Top Model on the Road by Loren Models, which recently concluded filming and will start airing November 21.
To build up enthusiasm, they held a press conference, complete with a fashion show of four beauties sashaying down the runway, at the Italian Embassy in Beijing on October 18.
Filmed in Italy, the reality show takes amateur Chinese models and puts them right in the heart of Western fashion at Milan Fashion Week.
Growing up in Italy, Chairman of Loren Models in Beijing Luo Yunqin witnessed the culture and especially the fashion of Italy.
He believes holding this competition in Italy, combined with his Italian fashion connections, including designers and photographers, elevates the program to a new level.
"This is not only about how a Chinese model goes on an international stage, it's about going deep into Italian culture and fashion," Luo said.
Being away from home and spending a month filming in Italy, 12 models competed to realize their dreams.
The models were trained in Italy, did a runway show and then got to explore Rome, Milan and other tourist attractions in Italy.
Since all the contestants in this program went to an international stage, they were able to directly go to the top three fashion weeks.
2013 Top Model on the Road by Loren Models allowed fresh-faced Chinese models to start their journeys in the fashion industry.
